Back in August we (Shelley & Amy) were luckily enough to head to the bright lights of Las Vegas for the Dermalogica World Congress!!! And what an adventure we had! Although it may seem it wasn’t work related we assure you it was!!! Just lots of fun in between!!!
So after a very long journey we arrived at our beautiful hotel – The Cosmopolitan and what a room we had!!!!
<- This was our view from the balcony!!!!! Amaze!!! We were absolutely knackered but we headed out explore Vegas! Such a fab city if you have never been, you have to go its just such an experience!
The congress didnt start until the Monday so we took advantage of our free day! We were up super early as we took a helicopter trip to the Gran Canyon. You just have too! There is something pretty special about sipping champers in the Canyon!
Such a fab trip and something you just have to do! The day followed with sightseeing and shopping and some sun bathing! its a hard life!
The congress kicked off in style in the evening with a Vegas pool party. The whole event was called ‘Only Connect’ and connect we did. We met some amazing people from all over the world. We felt very privileged to put our corner of the world on the map!
These girls were from Arizona!!! Only met the 1st night and felt like we had know them forever! they called us ‘The London Girls!’
So Monday morning arrived and we headed to the congress. We took our seats in the Chelsea theatre – along with the 2500 other people! from 80 different countries!!!!
The day consisted of amazing speakers – Jane Wurwand the founder of dermalogica she really is an inspirational women! Stuart Knight talked about the art of conversation. Doctor Diana Howard launched new products. We learnt new skin bar ideas and we were showed presentations about their charity FITE. There was A unilever rep talking about their new partnership. Which is very exciting for the company.
Basically a full day of information and inspiration!!!!!
As a birthday treat for Shelley we headed to the theatre for the evening to watch the Rock of Ages. What a fab show! And of course Cocktails were essential!
The second day of Congress was another jammed packed one! Really interesting speakers, from teen Vogue discussing the teen market. Techniques for well being. More excting product launches! And a fantastic and very emotional closing speech from Jane.
Her speech really touched us and really enforced our belief in our industry. We are so lucky to be in an industry that we get the chance everyday to make people feel better. Be it by a new hair cut or a skin treatment. That chance to improve how someone feels about themselves is quite special.
We were luckily enough to meet Jane and get a photo. Which we really will treasure!
Dermalogica really looked after us all throughout the trip and the closing party was no exception!!! Held at the marquee nightclub with crazy dancers, awesome music and drinks flowing…… It really was AWESOME!! Something we will never forget!
So it was time to say goodbye to new friends made, bye to our beautiful room, bye to the Dermalogica tribe – and what a pleasure it is to be part of that tribe!
And Bye to Vegas!!! The crazy crazy awesome place it is!
Congress 2015 was such a fantastic event to be part of. We learnt so much and really got inspired. We cant wait for the next Congress – no clue where in the world it will be, but if in 5 years time we can make it we most definitely will!!!!
